Del Chiaro Center workshop in honor of Crawford Greenewalt, Jr.

Friday, July 15, 2016

We are pleased to report that the international workshop sponsored by AHMA's Mario Del Chiaro Center for Ancient Italian Studies, "Material Connections and Artistic Exchange: The Case of Etruria and Anatolia," was a resounding success.  Held in May in Rome -- at the Britisch School at Rome and the Villa Giulia Museum -- the workshop brought together scholars of both Anatolian and Etruscan archaeology to explore the similarities (and differences) in the arts and material culture of these two regions.

The workshop was held in honor of the late Crawford H. Greenewalt, Jr. (1937-2012) -- "Greenie," as he was known to friends and colleagues -- a distinguished Anatolian archaeologist whose work explored the material connections between the many cultures of the ancient Mediterranean world.
