Launch of the new Center for the Study of Ancient Italy

The Center for the Study of Ancient Italy is a new research Center at UC Berkeley affiliated with the Graduate Group in Ancient History and Mediterranean Archaeology. It is intended to promote and advance the study of the many cultures of ancient Italy, with special emphasis on the Etruscans and Romans. It will support research and teaching that address the relations and interactions of these peoples with the other cultures of the ancient Mediterranean. It will organize conferences, sponsor lectures, workshops and exhibitions dedicated to the ancient art, history and archaeology of Italy.
The project director is Lisa Pieraccini.
