Lisa Pieraccini, Project Director of the Del Chiaro Center for the Study of Ancient Italy, co-organized a sumptuous banquet at the V. Sattui Winery in Napa Valley called "The Life and Afterlife of Etruscan Banquets." While diners enjoyed an Etruscan-inspired meal--complete with smoked eggs and farro risotto--prepared by the V. Sattui chefs, Professor Pieraccini introduced them to the banqueting practices of the Etruscans and the evidence from which those practices have been reconstructed by archaeologists.
