Leah Packard-Grams (BA, Bryn Mawr College; MA UC Berkeley) is an interdisciplinary ancient historian, papyrologist, and archaeologist in UC Berkeley’s interdisciplinary PhD program (Ancient History and Mediterranean Archaeology AHMA), currently dissertating on the archaeological context and textual contents of the Ptolemaic papyrus archives found in the Tebtunis crocodile mummies by Grenfell and Hunt in 1900. Her primary interests include Greek and Demotic papyrology, Egyptian archaeology, and the materiality of ancient textual artifacts. She is part of two excavations in Egypt (Hibeh with UC Berkeley + Amheida with NYU) and one in Uzbekistan (the Late Antique site of Tugunbulak). She seeks to diversify the fields of ancient history to include those accounts of people who have been historically marginalized, and strives to bridge the disciplinary divides that artificially separate Mediterranean Archaeology, Papyrology, and Egyptology. She has published seven academic pieces, including chapters for the Oxford Handbook of Digital Archaeology and Harvard Egyptological Studies. She is a Board Member of the Bay Area chapters of the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) and the American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE).
ليا باكارد جرامز تخرجت من كلية بين ماور مع درجة الباكالوريوس ومن جامعة كاليفورنيا بيركلي مع درجة الماجستير وهي متخصصة في التاريخ القديم وعلم البرديات وعلم الاثار. هي طالبة الدكتوراه في جامعة كاليفورنيا بيركلي في منهج اسمه “تاريخ قديم وأثار البحر المتوسط” وتكتب رسالتها الدكتوراه عن نصوص الأرشيف البردي من عصر البطلمي من موميوات التمساح في تبتونس (الفيوم) الذي أخرج من مصر على أياد البريطانيين (جرنفل وهنت) في سنة 1900 الميلادية. تهتم بالعديد من العلوم على سبيل المثال دراسة البرديات المكتوبة باللغة اليونانية وأيضا البرديات الديموطيقية والاثار المصرية بشكل عام وتفكير عن الصفات المادية بالنسبة للبرديات والنصوص القديمة الأخرى.
هي تشارك في بعثتين أجنبية في مصر – بعثة الحيبة و بعثة جامعة نيو يورك في أمحيدا (واحة الداخلة) وتشارك أيضا في بحث في بعثة أثرية في أوزبكستان (موقع توجونبولاك من العصور الوسطى) وهي تسعى إلى تنويع مجالات التاريخ القديم لتشمل تلك الروايات عن الأشخاص الذين تم تهميشهم تاريخيًا، وتسعى جاهدةً إلى سد الفجوات التخصصية التي تفصل بشكل مصطنع بين علم آثار البحر الأبيض المتوسط وعلم البردي وعلم المصريات. انتشرت سبع مقالات أكدمية بما في ذلك فصول في The Oxford Handbook of Digital Archaeology وأيضا في Harvard Egyptological Studies وهي عضو مجلس إدارة فروع منطقة الخليج للمعهد الأثري الأمريكي (AIA) والمركز الأمريكي للبحوث في مصر (ARCE).
